I caught this beautiful male coppernose Bluegill and many others while float tubing and fishing with jigs and 2 lb test line at Lake Perris. This is my favorite fish. Best looking, best fighting, best eating.

Now I'm talking about tiny hand-tied maribou jigs and tiny spoons, not "bass jigs":

The gills out in Perris get huge for sure those jigs look very familiar did you make them yourself or get them from some one.
By the way that is a cool looking gill bro. I would love to get into some of those one day.

They are excellent eating, but I don't usually keep any. I catch them for the fun of it. Once in a while, when the bite is really good, I'll bring home a limit of 25 to fillet out. The BGs have to be at least 8 inches for a good fillet. 50 fillets will feed about 4 people.

Nice looking coppernose. Early this year I caught a few of those at the east end at lots 11 & 12, haven't had the same luck at Bernasconi. I caught all of mine on super dupers and white crappie jigs. The fish that bite the jigs are more aggressive and fight good. Thanks for the report.

Here's another "blue-phase" Perris Bluegill. They are really a beautiful fish that you don't catch very often there.

Nice fish for sure.. I know they are a pretty small fish to begin with but, how big do they need to be to keep. Does it go by weight or length??? I've caught them before, years ago. Not knowing anything about them I tossed em back..

bluegil can be any size pretty much but its pointless to keep the little ones cuz they dont have any meat on then

I caught my 7 pound bass on a crappie jig 2# UL pole jigging for BG.
Caught a couple of 2-3 pounders on trolling the super duper. BG's give me a good fight.

Hopefully I get off disability soon and back to work so I can afford to come down and fish. Have family down that way, but with gas and entry fee, Just can't swing it for now. Mad

Jason, disability checks can range anywhere between 3 months to 6. My wife had to go through that nightmare once. My mom is currently on one because of the injury to her hand. The machine ripped half her right hands skin right off, broke two bones, and cracked a few others. She went through 3 different surgery for repair. Took them 5 months to process her disability checks. Now, it's constant every two weeks.
