Wow 6 rods, seems a bit excessive. I mean how many different setups do you need if you target 1 species of fish? I think I would rather have one of those holders that you put in the front so you can troll as you kick. On a side note were is a good place to get one of those. I typically order all my gear online if possible.

Well now, on a float tube it might be extensive hardware to carry for some (me included) aboard but 6 rods is nothing for some tournament bass fishermen. Bass being one species of fish. It is very nice to be able to just grab a combination to fish a particular kind of bait rather than tie up again and again. Especially if your using very specific rods e.g. crankin rod, spinning rod, jig stick medium , heavy, fast tip, etc.

For me this rack would serve well as a rod and component rack. My rods (2) my net, my lippers etc. and its a space saver too. But I dont want it on the back of the tube. I would like it on the side. However, weight and balance become an issue to resolve.

Its cool to see this one done because I have been thinking about this design for months now along with some others. Just dont have the time to put them into production.

Does this one rotate? Does it need to? Hmmmmmm...

Thanks for the info I would like to pick up stuff in person, but the closet spot to me is more than an hour drive so I might as well just pay for shipping since gas would be more anyway.

on a side note I clicked on one of the banners on the left and it opened in my active window instead of a new one. You should add " target="_blank" after the href code on the banner so they always open in a new window instead of the window your in. Not a big deal, just thought I would mention it.

Well I think I need a 2nd 3 pole holder on the other side of my tube like you said, pliers, net, lip gripper, etc, but I don't think I'll ever need to carry 6 poles.

What do you guys use for a trolling holder? I looked at a few, but they either aren't setup for a tube or got bad reviews. Since i'm not much of a hand man I would like to just get something to strap on and won't be to hard to add to my tube.

If you look at oh...say Ebay, they have some rod holders that go to 45* that simply strap around your tube. Also the above mentioned retail stores might also. The easy way is just get a 45 from the hardware store that fits on your rod rack via a short piece of pipe the appropriate size. If you built your own rack out of pvc this can be built right in.

The rack I am currently using out of sheer laziness is from Sport Chalet and it holds 3 rods and cost 12.99 I have a piece of pvc that fits on the rack and a 45 attached to that. Trolling. I can post the sizes involved if you need them.

Nice choice. I forgot to mention, 3rd grip makes a nice holder that goes on a tube AND can be worn as a belt on the person. I forgot about this as I have and use one for surf fishing but I needed Ed to remind me it also has a float tube strap on option. If you like the multi tasking angle on angling.

Wow that would have came in handy this weekend. Trying to get a nice ling off the hook and find the rod holder was a pain.

Is this the one your talking about? It's the only thing I could find.

That's the one! I love mine for surf fishing and any shore fishing. Also can strap to a tube. Is this one made by 3rd Grip?

Mine is all black but its a bang for the buck item if that matters.

Third grips are awesome... unfortunately I believe the company is no longer in business so buy em if you see em!

Also that float tube rod holder by Cabela's is probably made for them by Scotty... might want to see if they offer it cheaper somewhere.

They do indicate on the package that can be used on a tube. I just never realized it and then Ed bought one and he pointed it out to me. They are pretty versatile. I did not know the company was gone. I know where some are (or were) I might have to pick up another and stash for the future. Don't ask me where cuz I won't tell you cuz I'm mean. Ok I'll tell you. PM of course.

Well I'm gonna get a couple for myself. If anyone wants one I'm sure I can get a deal if I buy multiples at one time.

It should be around $15 each before shipping.

Just post and let me know how many you want and I'll find out how much each one will be with shipping and place the order today at 5:00pm.

Well I didn't order the rod holder. Although the cost was only $15 the website wanted $10 for shipping so it's not a good deal after all.
