I'm new to this forum but, I built my first float tube in 1964 at Boy Scout summer camp. The fishing merit badge counselor helped us make them with a 2x6 lashed to a used truck inner tube. I used that one (with a new tube or two) till I got drafted in 1969.

Over the years, I've had several tubes, all were the truck inner tubes with various canvas or nylon covers, and countless hours of enjoyment. All things pass, though, and I've gotten too fat for old tubes. After reading several articles and reviews, I found this forum and many of the posts were quite helpful with choosing my new tube.

I got a new Cumberland and some better fins and am eager for the water to warm up just a bit more. My granddaughter will be using the old tube and my duck fins, for the first time, this spring. Hope she has as much fun as I had with it.

Thanks folks.

Welcome to the forum Olfatguy.
The Cumberland will feel like a luxury liner compared to the old innertube. You will notice the wind more and be able to kick quite a bit further.

Welcome aboard olfatguy

I currently own (3) three Cumberlands and (1) one Outcast Fish Cat Deluxe 4 and their all dependable tubes in my book.

You get lots of "kudos" Gale, for all of the wonderful and lasting memories that your grand-daughter will have of the fun times spent with her Grand-pappy while fishing on a tube. Priceless indeed!  Thumbs Up

Thank you for your duty Sir ..... OOH RAH!!
