Just got done packing the back of the truck with all the camping and fishing gear. Early Friday morning my brother and I will be on our way to the lake and the maiden voyage of my pontoon. I did not think about this being President's Day weekend, Red Smile . Hopefully I can get one of the first come, first served campsites and we camp Friday and Saturday nights. Otherwise it will be a day of fishing and if good enough go back Saturday morning.
Report to follow by Monday.
Tight lines,

Came home earlier than expected. Air mattress leaked air and I slept in the truck last night. It was 26 degrees yesterday morning when we got to the lake.

Launched to pontoon and spent the day learning how to sit in the boat and reach back to operate the motor, a remote operating system is the next thing I look into if available for that trolling motor. So I sit forward and be able to concentrate on the fishing pole when trolling. And take the strain off my arm and shoulder sitting twisted in the seat.

The Sea Eagle 285 rides smooth and handles choppy water pretty good, light winds came up yesterday afternoon. Easy to operate with the oars the few times I used the oars. I learned where I would like to position additional Scotty pads so I can reach my poles easier, behind the seat where they came attached it was not easy to turn around and access.

I trolled deep running crankbaits, rubber shads & worms, no bites all day. Water was about 51 degrees. I did spend most of the time just learning how the boat operates and learning how to read the Garmin EchoMap 73sv. I watched U Tube videos about the Garmin but now that I have used it I will understand the videos more so that I can use it better.

Sadly my GoPro never got out of the truck, no pictures. I decided I already had too much to learn about the boat and the fish finder. Other outings it will get used more.

Looking forward to getting this boat wet at least once a month with a camping trip to the local lakes. Probably going to Perris next. Of course when I get better with this boat I look forward to getting out on the water with friends for this board.

Til then,
