So here is a recap of what we have decided to change for next years Float Tube Tournament Series ( [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] )

OK so we have decided 2 points per inches over the minimum length and a minimum of 5 fish posted per week. Example if you caught a Large Mouth Bass, minimum 14" and it measured 18". You would get your 20 points and you would also get an extra 8 points which would get you 28 points for the one fish. The limit of 5 fish per week would get 140 points for the week and the extra points for fish longer then the minimum length would score you more points in the week.

I think some people feel limiting the points would be wrong and discourage people from fishing. But if they can get more points for bigger fish this would lead to more fishing and trying to improve you catch length that are posted. I feel that the 5 fish limit would allow those that could only fish the weekend a chance to catch up or at least feel less like they won't be able to catch up.

I still think that there are going to be people that give up before they even get a chance start as they will be way behind. But with this and all the extra points, you can win there should be less giving up. Also for those that are way behind we could add raffle prizes to the list for those that posted at least one fish (excluding 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place). This should give hope to all in the tournament.

I do think there is more to discuss and this is not set in stone yet but I like this what does everyone else think. There is one issue I see the freshwater bass does grow faster than the saltwater bass so maybe that is the fish that is only 1 point per inch over the minimum. Saltwater Bass would be the 2 points per inch over the minimum length. The reason is normally the Large and Smallmouth bass are normally over the minimum size, but it is hard to fish a spottie, sand bass, or Calico over the minimum size. This is just my 2 cents and we will need to look at the other fish as well.

What does everyone think please add your 2 cents but I think the 5 fish limit and the and extra points over minimum length will stand the details need to be discussed.

Great looks like this will be the changes for the 2018 Float Tube Tournament Series.

We just need to add a few fish to the list for both Saltwater and Freshwater.

OK so I think this is the plan I will be working on the Tournament Rules Document and once that is done I will post the link to it. That will be the official rules and should be ready in the next few weeks.

On freshwater list does bluegill include hybrids, pumpkinseed, redear, green sunfish, or just blue gills?

As for Bluegill it should say panfish so it covers all species of panfish. The only difference is Crappie. So yes all the other listed count. In time we might need to tighten up this but for now it is open.
