So when you are fishing this tournament, you can fish when every and where every you would like.  Below if a simple list of fish that will be target species.  The points have been attached to each fish species for you to review.

Freshwater Fish List
Catfish - 25 Points (12")
Bass - 20 Points (14")
Small Mouth Bass - 20 Points (12")
Muskie - 20 Points (12")
Trout - 20 Points (12")
Carp - 20 Points (12")
Pike - 20 Points (12")
Crappie - 10 Points (8")
Bluegill / Panfish - 10 Points (6")

Saltwater Fish List
Halibut - 25 Points (12")
Calico Bass - 20Points (12")
Spottied Bass - 20 Points (12")
Sand Bass - 20 Points (12")
Bonita - 20 Points (12")
Sculpin - 15 Points (12")
Perch - 10 Points (6")
Crocker - 20 Points (12")
Mackrel - 10 Points (12")

This is our list which will in time grow to include more fish and points.  For now we will start with what you see here.  When the Tournament is open the fishing begins and you can fish at anytime and place during the event.  for each fish caught and photographed you will receive the above points provided the are the correct length or bigger.  PLEASE SEE FISH LIMITS FOR SOME SPECIES.  Points will accumulate and the winner will be the one with the most points at the end of the tournament.

Members of the tournament will also have a chance to win, extra points for catching the biggest fish in each fish category listed above.  Proof of biggest fish will be by photo, which will include both clear length and clear weight.  Please remember the length is what matters but in the event of a big catch be sure to get a weight photo as well.

I am pretty set with this as our fish list of points and lengths but I incurage your thoughts on this.  Let me know what you think and in the future we will look to fix the bug we run into as we go along.

Stay tuned as we will post up the official rules to this Float Tube Tournament Series .  That is right guys we are well underway to make this happen.  Please tell your friends they must be a member of the forum to compete, and remember THIS IS OPEN TO ANYONE IN THE WORLD.

Cool bro i hope this makes sense to everyone. To me it seems similar to Saltwater vs freshwater but on a grander scale.

Looks great Jeff, I am really looking forward to this. What a Face It is just about the same way the points were run in the Kayak Wars tourney. This will be fun. I am going to have to start catching fish bigger than 4 inches Red Smile

Changes no limits on Panfish, Crappie, Mackrel and Crocker, points increase on catfish and hailbut, and the big one is LMB's are 14" and Spotties, Calicos and Sandbass are still 12" limits The LMB's just grow faster. I am sure in January there will be some new discoveries when the trout turn on our someone breaks into some great halibut. We will run with this list and discuss again when we are done with the main event. salute

Thanks Jeff and everyone on the team to come up with a list and tournament plan. I have been so busy with work, I have not been able to even participate in the discussion and I apologize. My question may have been addressed some where along the discussion but I will ask since I didn't see it. There are some fish that should have alternate regulations? The above 2 for example. Catfish scores the highest of all the fish listed. Are there any regulations for float tube fishing Pay to Fish lakes? Mainly Catfish and Trout lakes? The reason I ask is because we all know these lakes and in one morning or at times in a couple of hours on a Pay to Fish lake, you can limit on both the above species at 10 each. Why does Catfish score 5 points higher than all the other species? Please forgive me if this has already been answered. I still am looking to participate in the series and the discussion. Thanks everyone!

Here you go sir the reasoning of the Task Force on this subject.

Cat fish and Halibut were under represented in the trial run. Likewise, they are not reported as much here on the board. It seemed to us after the reviews that both species could be worth an additional 5 points. We had a few discussions about blocking lakes and ponds, but it seemed unfair or impossible to regulate.
