Hi Everyone,

New tuber here. I grew up fishing the large river system lakes in Oklahoma for LMB. Moved to the Culver City/Mar Vista area about a year ago. I've taken a kayak out in some of the bays looking for spotties, but I prefer the ease and maneuverability of tubing so I'm getting rid of the yak.

Planning plenty of trips to the bays and freshwater excursions as well. I live pretty close to MDR so I'm interested in cracking the code there especially.

Welcome Bruinhook , Glad that you found us . Awesome that you grew up fishing in Oklahoma . I used to fish on the RedRiver and various Creeks and ponds all over the place every summer when I was in High School (would visit my Grandparents out there yearly ) Pulled some Huge Bass and Cats out of there .

Look Forward to some of your Reports and I am sure you will find someone to help show you the ropes down in MDR Thumbs Up

Wes

Thanks guys.

Wes, that's awesome you've fished the Red River. I actually never made it down that far. I was based in the NE. Fort Gibson was my home water and I fished Grand as well.

Coming out here has been interesting. All my life I heard about the world class fishing at Castaic. I didn't realize that it was just 200 acres, Ft. Gibson is 22,000!

Welcome to forum bruinhook. We have a great group of guys here with a lot of information for ya. The tube is pretty comfortable to fish from, but it don't travel like a yak.

Ahh!!! Don't ditch the yak.  It's really fun to use once you figure out how to position yourself, move effectively, and do one billion other things with just your hands.  Razz

It's good to have you on board.

Welcome... I'm planning to fish MDR a few times this year hopefully we can meet up on one of those outings. My in laws live pretty close to MDR in culver city so it'll be easier if I make MDR my go to harbor instead of driving all the way down south to the other harbors.

Getting rid of the Yak? Which one do you have?

Thanks for the welcome. I'm excited to get out in MDR. My yak is a Nucanoe Frontier. I got it because you can stand and fish in it and it has a really wide casting deck. I fish tubes when I go to the Pac NW with my in-laws, and I just prefer the feeling of a tube.

Thanks again for all the warm welcomes!
