Hey folks.  Brand new from the land of Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley.  Really thinking about the float tube for a while now...about to pull the trigger on a Cumberland.  I want to use it fly fishing some of the bays and smaller lakes in the area.  Maybe use it on a couple of smaller rivers down in middle Tennessee.  I saw there was a sponsor on here that is giving members a pretty good discount on Cumberlands...can anybody point me in the right direction?  Would rather support small business than the box stores.  Anyway, look forward to reading the forum and commenting and showing my pure ignorance.

Welcome idobbq.  You found a great resource for the floatin' fisherman.  Helped me get back into it.

Benton, you say?   I gotta buddy in Paducah.  Don't know if he caught the fishing bug... being a city boy and all.  Maybe even "hedobbq" now.

I was kind of in the same "boat" as you are; wanting to get (back) in the water for flyfishing, among other things.  Had the donut and the u-boat but, went to the pontoon (if storage or transport is an issue, then forget it.)  Used my uncle's and the extra few inches above the water made casting a little easier (not so much in spotting as many people say.)  Maybe a mental thing but, I'll take any help when I'm fishing! I may get a tube just to have for hiking into places where taking the toon is tough.

Thanks for the welcome fellas. Always enjoy meeting new like-minded folks. Muk - those are the very lakes that I was referring to. Additionally, I want to get over to south central Kentucky and float some of those creeks, rivers as well. I didn't know about all the trout that those areas contain...should be lots of fun.

do you ever listen to Froggyland outdoors, you can find it on the froggies website, it has pretty good interviews and at end of show they give a fishing report for the big lakes. also think the ponds on 68 in LBL hold some promise

Not sure I can send the rub...but, I can post some mighty fine grub...'course, this is a fishing forum - so not sure pics of bbq exactly fit within the confines of the forum rules.
