Just wanted to stop in and say "Hi."

Just found this forum in time. Started with a donut a long, long time ago, moved to a u-boat years ago and I just got my new pontoon off the brown truck Monday.  Now, I'm ready to read some helpful posts in this forum to make it more usable.  Hopefully, I'll be able to contribute in time, too.

Been back to surf fishing the last couple of years, always been fly fishing for the last 25+ years and did offshore before that.  Buddy gave me a heads up on a toon a few weeks ago and pulled the trigger.  Hoping to get it out in the local harbors soon for some CPR.

Welcome chipmcd,
Lots of good info here, so search and enjoy.
I just moved from a "doughnut" to a u boat and would love to hear a compare and contrast report on how you like your new pontoon.

Jerdon - my uncle has a toon - partially the reason to get one.  Almost ended up with an frameless pontoon but conventional seems more conducive to modding.   The main difference  of a tube and toon is being out of the water; you can see so much more.  The other reason for the toon would be, way down the road, a trolling motor may be in the future.  When the knees, then shoulders give out, I'll still have the will to fish and puttin' around with a motor will help.  Big help fighting tides, too.

Alhambra....that's where I was born !.. welcome to the forum I had a toon and had a lot of fun tricking it out..at one time I had everything from trolling motors.. to ff gps chartplotter to solar panels to recharge stuff while I was fishing....sold it to my buddy a year ago. It was fun... anything you need let me know...what I would like though are some lessons in fly fishing. I dabbled with it years ago but that was only for mako sharks ... awesome fish on the fly....
