I would like to know if you guys clean your tube after you use it? Like do you deflate it and take the bladders out or just rinse it off. I just rinse my off after i use it in salt water don't know if thats good enough or should i do more.

I rinse mine down about every other trip if I'm lucky. It seems to be holding up pretty good.

Always deflate a little bit and do not leave it in a confined space where the temp. can rise. I left mine fully inflated on a Santa Ana day and it expanded and ripped the shell so bad I took it to a shoe repair shop for repair. I still use it today, (can't afford a new one)!

I rinse it down every trip and I have been keeping a bottle of simple green with my tackle. A few sprays and wipe down seem to slow the fading and staining of the tube skin.

Rinse it down, like most of us do I like the simple green idea not bad. You learn something new all the time I never expected repairing it at a shoe shop. ha ha

Now we know salute

They had the heavy duty sewing machines and I supplied the nylon for the patch and a box of chocolate truffles for the tip. Lupe's Shoe Repair in La Mesa.

sorry Hobie.. didn't intend to hijack your post above.. to get back to your orig question..

I try to remember to always rinse off the saltwater off my tube, and all my fishing gear. Especially any small metal parts and bolts that WILL rust rapidly. Every few times, I try to check pliers, fish grippers, etc, and all the metal fitments, like clips and carabiners that attach my rod tube rack, and give them a blast of WD40 to drive out any remaining water and to lubricate/antirust protect.

If I had a chance to go fishing. I'd just rinse it off with water then dry it off as much as I can when I get home as I only do freshwater. I take mine inside and hang it up as I have nowhere outside to store it..
Very Happy
