Too much money !! Strike King spinner baits at $7.00 is better than $12.00. Both baits must be raised off with fresh water after every use. They will both rust up.

I bought one and I'm not a big fan. My buddy LOVES them though, but in mission bay it's hard to "slow roll" a 1oz. Spinner Bait over eel grass that's only 10-15 feet down.

Up in Newport I feel like the lack of eel grass allows it to be more effective.

But like I said...I know TONS of guys who like them. I won't get rid of mine, eventually I'll get used to it or find an area where it excels.

@ Dave if my bladder get back in time I'm down

@marco seems like the prices on Swimbaits is sky rocketing you mine is well start making your own probably cost you less and gives you a way better feeling when you catch a fish with it

I have a bolt thrower and the kelp assassins and I have not caught a fish with either. I have not thrown them from the tube yet, so we will see. I did try the bolt thrower from the shore in Alamitos bay, with no luck. I also tried the thrower at the break wall of Long Beach, while on a 1/2 cattle boat with no luck. I'm hopefull that they work for the money I spent. If I have luck from the tube, I will post pictures of my catch.

I have come to really enjoy fishing with spinner baits myself. Brandwise, I usually just scope out the "deals" and fish those. I'm not into the expense of losing them. I rinse all my gear and honestly I seldom have to throw out spinner baits as a result of rusting. Keeping them rinsed in fresh water even while on the tube/yak seems to really aid in this. Come to think of it, I can't even name what's on my rig right now but I have been fishing the same 1oz white and chartreuse spinner for about 6 months now. I just make sure the hook is sharpened and I have added a skirt from time to time. I have had them hit on the drop, the last end of the retrieve , slow rollin, and most of the time it seems the larger models hit when I burn them through. I like a Willow and a Colorado (classic combo) leaf together. I was using trailers and trailer hooks but not so much anymore. I agree it is more difficult to work them in heavy grass but my experience so far has been these are the better areas to use this bait. It's a great secondary bait to throw if you get hit on a lure but miss the strike, you can throw a spinner bait and it causes such a reaction you can many times bring them in.

Maybe more than you want to read. Sorry. Just my h.o.

Thanks for reading.

Those are killer baits at a killer price. Those are the only sprinerbaits I fish and have killed the spotties, sandys and calicos on them.

western plastics sells a 3/4oz spinnerbaits made for the bay for only $4. its not as fancy looking as the reebs bolt throwers but the quality is just as good. and the truth is i dont think the fish care how fancy they look.

they have 2 different colors, orange and chartruess. everyones favorite bay colors. im not sure if they sell them online but i have the benefit of living 5 minites away from anglers arsenal.

they work quite well

but imo the best spinner baits are made by war eagle. the spro spinnerbait is killer also, just not as durable as the war eagle
