I am currently fishing braid main line to mono leaders and I am thinking about changing my leaders to fluoro. Currently my leaders range from 6#-12# izorline xxx for targeting sandies, spotties, hali's and so on. My fishing is done from a tube and lately I have been fishing next to more and more structure which frays the shiznit out of my mono leaders. I have heard that fluoro is more resistant to fraying when compared to mono or even straight braid.

My questions is which fluoro do you guys recommend and is it that much better than mono? Or am I better off just sticking with xxx izorline?

BTW, I have never had any problems with the line I am currently using.

Are you using leader material or just tying on a piece of mono? Actual leader material is tougher than just regular line be it mono or fluro.

Fluro sinks better and faster and is arguably less visible.

I think braid to fluro is a great combination myself. Like a Star @ heaven But it is not my only method.

Hmmm, I did not know that about leader material...

I'm tying regular mono to my braid.

So when you tie your braid to fluoro are you using regular fluoro or leader fluoro?

Re: fluro, depends on what lb test you use. after using a boat load of fluro lines, I went back to Yozuri Ultrasoft copoly line in 8 # test, it's way more abrasive resistant then any fluro, plus it's stronger too. Oh and it's cheaper than fluro.. Wink

I should say, I don't target hali's, but if I did, I'd go up to 12 lb test, only cus the big ones have some nasty toofs.. Red Smile

I use actual leader to tie on.

Went to my local turners and ended up grabbing 25 yards of 15# Seaguar Blue Label Fluoro Leader. Also picked up some P-Line Adaro Aluminum pliers.
