Franklyn that's a fishy tube if it could only talk it would tell you how much fish has been slayed on it! That thing will take you to the jungle and back!

Ed will HOOK YOU UP.. he's a genius at these mods.

Here's the plan I followed, but modified the dimensions for my Cumberland.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
It's an awesome build link, just to read and look at the pics, the shopping list, etc. Go ahead and buy the PVC cutter.. you'll use it plenty!

This wrap-around frame works OK for me .. but honestly, I think the 1/2" PVC is a little flexy and squeaky.
If I did it over (which I probably will eventually), I might use thicker 1" or even 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" PVC. Also, I would do the rod-holder tubes in a different configuration, not the fan configuration. I can probably change that now pretty easily. I would make them lower, angling back.. like Wiseguys 3 rear angled rod holders. This would work better for my casting, and also for fishing certain places with lower clearance, like under bridges and the concrete jungle.

Here are a few pics of mine.

I might be wrong but since im new to this pvc thing but you might not have to go to 1" tube. im doing one out of 3/4 tube sch 40 and seams to be very sturdy but wont know till i try it oh its heavier then i would like it too but the comfort and options im building in to this rod holder in my opinion are well worth the extra weight. Will be posting report and pics of it soon and yes im also leaving in the option of adding wheels later for easy transport Very Happy

Yes i have made one out of 1 inch and it was fine 3/4 might be ok but if there is any long pieces it might flex and if you going to add wheel i would just start off with 1 inch or bigger if your design is going to be configured into your rack
